I am familiar with this industry from the very beginning of my professional career. I worked a lot while perusing my B Tech. I have attended a lot of seminars and workshops of various kinds and various domains throughout the world. I met plenty of professionals before directly going to the industry and faced them and saw them working. You can never imagine my life @ B. Tech career in one side there are lots and lots of subject you have to grasp and on the other side you have to equip yourself with the finest technology chosen by you (among the options out there). I worked in CCM Software India Pvt. Ltd.(May 2006 to Oct 2006) as a Trainee Programmer in VB .NET technology. Though it was my internship examination i learned a lot of thing and made quite a few software using my skills like: Transport Software for Transport Companies, Hospital Management Software, Payroll Management Software, Accounting Software, Stocks & Inventory maintaining software for industries, Stocks and sell handling software for Jewelery shops.
Then after just passing out my B. Tech final semester i got appointed in Compare Infobase Ltd. in Gurgaon as a Java Programmer (June 2007 to May 2008). Though i was appointed as Java Programmer but initially i worked on some only HTML driven website projects like Indiaedu, netchap. After that i got promoted as a site co-ordinator of the website 1000sites. Then i get involved with the Java team. There i got a 1 month corporate training on Java Web Services, Struts etc. After the successful completion of my training i shifted to Java team with proper project. There i was involve with projects like CMail( which means Compare Mailing Portal), MoW Product Review(which is basically a sub-domain of company’s renowned website MapsOfWorld), Reverse Auction( New kindof auctioning introduced in the fall of summer), MoW Stats(basically collecting statistics of various company’s portals for the use of Management), Naukrihub(a job portal initiative of the company), LMI(known as Last Minute Inventory, though after a lot of work done the project has been suspended though i must admit i worked a lot in that).
Now I am working with South California labs as a Software Engineer(Java) from May 2008 till now. This company has given me the oppertunity to work from home and in strechable hours. This is a experience where in one hand i am working with new technologies in new platforms and with new ideas on the hand i am getting plenty of money to feed my belly(after all this is all for that!). My first project or you can say my test project was to make “an application for orkut to have the number of friends from a particular city(given by you) for a particular profile”. I made the widget using JavaScript, XML, openSocial API.
Currently i am working on a VoIP based project where i have used and configured fully with my own hand an asterisk(The #1 open IP-PBX in todays world) server. In this project i am using Perl, AGI, Java, Asterisk-Java, Python etc. The platform i am using is Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon which is basically an AMI(Amazon Machine Instance) running with Amazon EC2, i am accessing it with PuTTy-ssh. I am using voice from Cepstral and the codec till now is G711(u-law). The database i am using is MySQL though i am trying to make Amazon simpleDB inspite of that. As a storage i am using Amazon S3(Simple Storage Server) fully compatible Data 2.0 standard.
I know if you are not familiar with this things it seems boring but beleive me once you get involve into this things you also start loving it. Believe me or not now or then you have to do learn this things. Do you know Yahoo Google Microsoft and all the giant companies are coming to provide this kind of Computing Cloud like Amazon sooner or later. So dive in!!!!
